Pre-trip
Before the first job of the day, Start inspection on the Current jobs screen. Pick the truck, go down the list — lights, tires and wheels, brakes, steering, hydraulics and controls, boom/bed, chains, straps and hooks, leaks, mirrors and glass, safety gear — and mark each OK or a defect. Add a photo for anything you mark.
What parks the truck
A critical defect — brakes, steering, a cracked hook, a leaking hydraulic line — sets the truck out of service. Dispatch sees it, the truck stops being assigned, and it stays parked until someone clears the defect with what was done. That's the whole point: nobody wants to be the driver who knew.
Post-trip
At the end of a shift, a post-trip note logs anything that happened — a new noise, a tire going soft — so the next driver and the office know.
Records
Inspections are kept with the truck and show on the fleet export. If a DOT officer or an insurer asks, the history is there.
