What's in the price
Each company sets its own rates. A quote is built from:
- Hook-up — the flat charge for coming out and loading the vehicle.
- Mileage — per-mile rate × the miles from pickup to your destination, after any miles the company includes for free. We compute the distance from the route, not a straight line.
- After-hours — a multiplier some companies apply at night, in the window they publish.
- Minimum — if hook-up plus mileage comes in under the company's minimum, you pay the minimum.
- Sales tax — towing is taxable in Washington; the rate is the one for your pickup location and is shown on its own line.
Tap Price breakdown on any quote to see every line. What you see is what you're charged unless you approve an add-on on scene.
Why the list is in that order
The default order is Recommended: mostly price, adjusted for the company's ETA and on-time record. A company that's usually late is treated as a little pricier than one that isn't. You can switch to Lowest price or Fastest any time.
If you're ordering on behalf of a business with preferred providers, those go first.
Published add-ons
Below each quote you'll see If conditions change on scene — the company's published prices for winching, dollies and the like. If the driver finds the car in a ditch, that's what a winch-out will cost. Anything a driver proposes that isn't on that list is flagged to you as unpublished. Nothing is charged without your approval either way.
Quotes expire
Quotes hold for 10 minutes. If they lapse, refresh for new ones — prices may change if the hour or availability did.
Scheduling for later
Choose Schedule a time to book a pickup for tomorrow morning or next week. Companies price it for that slot (after-hours applies if the slot is at night), quotes hold until an hour before, and the card hold is placed shortly before the pickup rather than right away.
No quotes?
Sometimes no company can take a job right now — a heavy vehicle at 3am, say. You'll see that plainly rather than a fake wait. Try again in a few minutes, or if we're not in your area yet, leave your number and we'll tell you when we are.
