Help · Getting a tow

Paying and receipts

The hold, when it's charged, tips, and getting your receipt as a PDF.

The hold

When you choose a quote, you save a card (handled by Stripe — we never see the number). When the company accepts, we place a hold for the quoted amount. A hold isn't a charge: it reserves the amount so the company knows the job is funded.

When you're charged

The hold is captured when the job is marked complete. If the job is cancelled before the truck is on its way, the hold is released and nothing is charged. Add-ons you approved on scene are charged as a separate line at completion.

Scheduled tows

For a tow booked days ahead, the hold is placed shortly before the pickup, not when you book.

Receipts

Every completed job gets an itemized receipt — hook-up, mileage, add-ons, tax, total — with the company's name and contact. It's on the tracking page, texted to you, emailed if you gave an address, and downloadable as a PDF for insurance or expense claims.

Tips

After the job you can tip the driver from the tracking page: a preset or any amount. Tips are charged to the same card as a separate payment and go to the driver in full — Towhub takes nothing.

Refunds

Refunds go back to the card you paid with and usually appear within 5–10 business days. See Something went wrong for how a review works.

Businesses paying by invoice

If a shop, dealer or fleet ordered the tow for you, they're billed on their account and you won't be asked for a card.
